Best air conditioners under ₹35,000
Updated 16 August 2026
An AC is the one purchase here where the sticker price is the smaller number — a 3-star unit can cost ₹4,000-5,000 more per year to run than a 5-star inverter, so a cheaper AC is often the more expensive decision. Buy on ISEER and installation, not on brand advertising.
What to look for under ₹35,000
Inverter, and check the ISEER figure
Non-inverter ACs should not be considered for a room you use daily. ISEER above 4.5 is good at this budget; the number is on the energy label and is directly comparable across brands.
Size it to the room, honestly
Up to about 120 sq ft, 1 ton. 120-180 sq ft, 1.5 ton. Above that, 2 ton. An undersized AC runs constantly and costs more than the larger one would have; an oversized one cycles badly and dehumidifies poorly.
Copper condenser, no exceptions
Alloy and "composite" condensers are cheaper to make and much harder to repair. Copper is the standard and is worth insisting on.
Budget separately for installation
Standard installation is included; copper piping beyond the included length, stabilisers and brackets are not. Realistically add ₹2,000-4,000, and get that quoted before you buy.
What to avoid
- 3-star units to save ₹3,000 upfront — the running cost erases that in a single summer.
- Buying in March or April. May sale pricing on ACs is materially better and the stock is the same.
- Extended warranties sold at checkout. The manufacturer compressor warranty is usually 10 years already.
